Thank you for your interest in my novels! My books are works of fiction and intended for mature readers. Events and persons depicted are of a fictional nature and use language, make choices, and face situations inappropriate for younger readers.
As a writer, musician, and part of the human experience, I believe that art is meant to capture a moment in time. This happens within a culture that’s a living thing and constantly evolving. As we understand more about ourselves and others, I try to make updates to my books to stay in step. Sometimes a needed update is missed or cost prohibitive, but rest assured that I am always working towards being in a place to correct them.
If you have comments or thoughts regarding outdated language in my books, I encourage you to email me at authoralystiles@gmail.com.
Thank you for taking a chance on my words!

The books in this emotional rockstar series address heavy topics like mental health, addiction, and challenging family dynamics in a compassionate, realistic manner. All books have an HEA and/or HFN.
This book addresses the issues of depression, anxiety, and suicide in a compassionate, realistic manner. The suicide referenced takes place before the story opens. It can be read as a standalone, but the story continues in Tracing Holland.
This book follows Luke's ongoing struggle with depression, anxiety, and grief. While it references the loss of a loved one to suicide, these events occur prior to his lovestory with Holland. I did my best to frame his journey in a way that would illustrate his struggle, while highlighting Holland’s support.
Viper addresses a disapproving parent and discusses mental health. The latter is done in a superficial way, without diving into trauma or a specific diagnosis. Wes is rockstar who’s historically resorted to alcohol and sex to cope with his trials.
His love interest Hannah is a childhood friend turned friends-with-benefits. During his transition from troubled rocker to redeemed badboy, he does have a moment of ethical non-monogamy before they commit fully. Since they are not yet a couple and both are aware of the event, I don't consider it cheating, but I know some readers prefer to be forewarned. Wes' path to his happily ever after with Hannah isn't a smooth one, but he does his best to overcome his vices and become the man she deserves.
This book addresses the issues of addiction, mental health, anxiety, loss, and childhood trauma in a compassionate, realistic manner. This trauma includes recollections of non-sexual abuse and parental neglect that is ultimately redeemed in the story.
This emotional contemporary romance series addresses heavy topics including challenging family dynamics, socioeconomic hardships, and trauma.
This book deals with economic stress and parental neglect that forces the hero into a caregiving role. His story follows his path to escape these circumstances and find financial security and love.
Camden is an artist with a beautiful soul who is doing his best to cope with childhood trauma through art. His experiences have given him a unique perspective and approach to life. The specifics of his trauma are never discussed, but the book does illustrate his coping techniques and the effect trauma can have on a person long after an event. His inspirational pursuit of beauty ultimately leads him to toward healthy coping strategies and a fulfilling, happy life.
This book opens with the main character Tristan returning from spending several years in prison. His experiences while incarcerated (including physical and sexual assault) impact his present mental, physical, and emotional state. Although there are no detailed descriptions of the trauma, there is some general references to what occurred and depictions of the effects throughout the book. The story also includes his present struggles with a disapproving parent that’s ultimately redeemed, several incidences of violence, and mental health issues. The story centers around Tristan’s battle to move forward with his life, where he ultimately finds justice and happiness.
These rom coms are meant to make readers smile, while also addressing real-world issues such as mental health, challenging family dynamics, and workplace/social injustice. All of these themes are handled in a compassionate and realistic manner and interwoven with light-hearted comedic elements. Readers accustomed to my heavier novels will find the serious topics present in these books are handled with a much lighter touch.
These books are dark romantic suspense and contain scenes of violence, torture, and imprisonment. There is a surreal superhero quality to them, which includes an ominous tone throughout the books, classic good vs. evil vibes, and an “evil villain” who engages in cruel behavior. That also means good triumphs over evil and justice prevails in the end.
Shaw is deeply entrenched in a cartel war. This dark suspense story contains scenes of violence, torture, and imprisonment. Flashbacks to his traumatic past include references to physical and emotional abuse, and combined with the present suspense, drives an ominous tone throughout the book. There are also some vague references to sexual exploitation and one scene where the MMC is stripped to search for a recording device (not completely and there's no assault.) The MMC is periodically subjected to unwanted advances from a female character, but it's not graphic or taken far.
Sienna's story follows the emotional journey of a middle-aged woman as she discovers herself and comes to terms with various challenges on her path to happiness and fulfillment. These issues include a disapproving parent, divorce, and infertility. There are also scenes of violence and references to abuse (not toward the main protagonist). The issues are ultimately addressed and resolved as part of her final HEA.
